Bringing Sustainable Luxury to Life
Sustainable luxury is not a concept we admire from a distance—it is something we strive to realise in every project, using our three guiding principles. At our Wamberal Residence, this philosophy came to life in the design of the “great room,” a central space connecting kitchen, dining, and living, positioned beside the pool and bathed in northern light.
The design brief called for stone flooring: a durable, low-maintenance material that ages gracefully and contributes to passive solar heating in winter. Yet stone is a finite resource, and with it come questions of extraction practices and labour conditions. The challenge was how to reconcile aesthetic goals with ethical and environmental considerations.
Our solution was to look to history for innovation. Inspired by ancient Roman Palladiana flooring, we proposed the use of reclaimed stone. By repurposing offcuts and waste slabs already available through the client’s network, we curated a palette of tones and textures, calculating the precise coverage required. The result will be a floor that is both visually striking and nearly entirely composed of recycled material.
This approach illustrates that sustainable luxury does not mean compromise. On the contrary, it elevates design outcomes. By balancing aesthetics with innovation, projects gain depth, individuality, and a stronger sense of purpose.
